The problem, generally speaking, is your Amazon driver might turn out to be a part of the emerging U.S. Federal Kidnapping Program. It’s not the spooky unmarked black vans you need to worry about. It’s the branded ones. Like the Stasi’s bread trucks. Amazon Prime: See where it takes you!
People marching helps marching people feel better. The signs are entertaining, the speeches less so. But for all of the city’s effort to get people downtown, protests have been the most effective. Could Occupy Market Street be a revitalization plan far more powerful than “Return to Office”? I have heard tales of kids taking over vacant commercial spaces in Portland to put on electronic shows, and this feels right to me.
The celebrities love these low-orbit space rides. Wait until a few of them get left up there like Laika.
Are we heading for new medieval cities? Might be our best bet. Support your local criminals. FTC’s not just a skate brand, it’s a strategy. City cops over county. Local fire and frontline and EMTs. Love them all so hard they love the people who live here more than they love paramilitary hardware discounts. Harden neighborhood infrastructure. Arts grants for hacktivists developing shared access to the distributed surveillance systems already in place. San Francisco is a good place to take a stand. They’ll bomb hospitals if they have to, but they won’t bomb billionaires. Choose your shadows wisely.
